With your code suggestion, I was able to make the sample Asp.net project come to life.

So, do you think this bug or feature improvement for C1 with the CopyHttpContextData? It might help other coding scenarios beyond OwinContext to make sure the HttpContext is fully copied. I would be more than willing to report it on GitHub.
