An additional layer of complexity to this is that I am sure many of us on this post and using this forum to provide valuable feedback on this great product are developers. As developers we most likely have many website/applications using Composite. Each one of these projects is going to be different and may or may not have the same complexities when it comes to upgrades. One of the best features of Composite is the ability to think outside the typical CMS solution, but this is also the trouble when it comes to simplifying upgrades.

For me, I have adopted Composite and love it. The ability to be flexible is awesome, although I do not think it is the easiest CMS for non-developers to utilize even for just simple website updates. The one issue that I have had from the start is keeping the versions of composite upgraded. The manual process take time and testing, but again that comes with the territory of being about to create complex environments. Keeping installations updated is so important not only for new features, but also for security, browser usability and so on.

I understand the development team wanting feedback on how to make the automated upgrades better and if possible resolve common troubles, it only makes the solution that much better. But this also take commitment from the user who needs to take the time to provide that feedback. If the magic of simplifying upgrades is possible, this could get pretty costly for developers to utilize this solution. Going from free open source option if you choose to try to manually upgrade your solution to not so cheap. Sadly, I still believe this may make many entertain alternative options.

Just my two cents...
